kenny14 656
Really good stuff artic, and a joy to read . I fully agree with you too that the nights when the dogs have to really work are by far the most enjoyable. Quote Link to post
Dan Edwards 1,134
Nice write up. How much collie is in the collie cross? Quote Link to post
artic 595
Nice write up. How much collie is in the collie cross? Cheers Dan, the bitch is a 3/4 Greyhound, 1/4 Border collie from Hancocks Kubia Khan. She's a great dog to watch in action, and steady. I like her style of running, and her sharp pace. joe_l 1
Great post artic, and my thanks to you for a very good night's sport on excellent permission. It wasn't a big bag, but it was a lovely warm night out and there were some hilarious moments, the saluki x's first run being the highlight, where as you say, he caught the rabbit by crash-landing the full force of his body on top of the poor bunny as it sought refuge in the hedge! Then on one of the deerhound x's runs I was holding the other two dogs when the rabbit came within feet of us, and I somehow managed to both punch myself in the nose and blind myself with the lamp while trying to keep a grip on the dogs as they lunged for the bunny. I've mainly only seen collie x's run up to now, with their tendency to stalk as you say, so I really enjoyed seeing the styles of the two other dogs. I've heard of dogs with 'no reverse' before but that saluki x set a new standard for me by literally bodyslamming a rabbit into submission. Most interesting of all was the deerhound cross's habit of running off out of the lamp, leaving you wondering where on earth he's gone, before he smacked the rabbit side-on at full throttle. I don't think much of the moustache you gave me in the photos though, you must try harder next time 1 Quote Link to post

I'm in stiches reading your post This is what its all about, not a numbers game, but having fun with good company. There were some exciting runs from all the dogs. The quote of the night was "No Joe it's a bullet rifle" Quote Link to post
