HI

How many times have you driven down a road or lane and seen some great places to ferret? I drive around looking for new places to get permission to ferret, but when I find a place that I think looks good I can never find out who owns the land to ask!

 

That little voice in my head always tells me to just do it anyway and if anyone see's you they will either say Hi or Feck off

 

I never do , always too worried what would happen if I was caught

But do any of you get the same urge and if so do ya do

And anyway whats the worst that could happen? its only ferreting?

If I spot a place when I get in I I look on google maps for the houses on that land gives an idea where to knock without driving round all day

its only ferreting,aint it,well probs be poaching some one elses permision,which a lot of shit heads seem to do nowa days,,its not nice to turn up on your land to find some c**ts have been on,holes left,ferrets left down sets,farmer going ape shit at you,,yes its only ferreting after all,nowt to do with poaching,trespass,etc etc,lot of people put a lot of time in on there permision,taking care of it,if i spot any twat on my land,i just phone the plod,gamekeeper,s,let them sort it out,ok,ian

I agree, as tempting as it might be it's poaching, there's some very good looking sets surrounding some of my permission but I can never get hold of the land owner, until then those tempting looking sets are out of bounds

The worst that could happen is they could confiscate your car, ferrets, ferreting gear and a large portion of you hard earned (or not so hard earned ) income . Take it from me I've got the scars, tee shirt and empty wallet to proove it........on the other hand.........that only happens if you get caught

Thats what I think, looks like a great spot to ferret but its even better when you have permision to be on it leave the poaching to someone else.

its tempting pal but it not worth it how would you feel if you and permisson like that and someone poached it treat there land like you want yours to be treated atb on geting the permission

If u can't get any permision then what else u meant to do?? Not every1 has the lux of having permision and as the majority know, it ain't easy to cum across, it's only the idiots who misstreat land but most decent lads who poach u wudn't hav a clue they have been there.

Yes you would as when I go to put my nets down I find peg holes and the undergrowth cut back , if you don't have permision post up to tag along , you meet some nice folk as well

i was out the other day after a 3 hour drive turned up at my first permission only to find nothing moving at all where normally there would be plenty so went on to a second place to find the same and onto a third to find the same again after driving that long and so far i would like to ferret my own land and not get there to find everything gone if i catch anyone on my permission they will have some scars of there own but if they ask maybe ill take them on with me as ive already offered to do for one chat one here and many others that arnt on here but luckily last time i was there i got some new land so went over to that to find rabbits a plenty so my day wasnt totally ruined and bagged myself 11 groundchickens

Have a look at what can happen if you don’t get permission, a friend of mine has just been fined. I used to do the same but the days of strolling on to land and saying its only a few rabbits has gone. All it does is feeds the anties/press with the ammunition they need to get it banned.

First thing, they had terriers, spades and collars (guess they meant radio) but no ferrets. So they were probably not rabbiting.

Police probably know that but could not prove it.

Add to that a badger set was said to be disturbed.

 

I think if you was to do a bit of discrete ferreting, dressed like you know what you are doing, in Surrey at least you would not end up in court.

 

They come of well I think, except for the criminal record, couple of hundred quid fine and even kept the dogs.

 

Not saying they deserved it but that is the stupid law in action.
