foxfan 479
I had a mate, well we grew up together, tho went our seperate ways as we got older. He was always very intelligent and went on to become a dentist, in fact he had several practices up and down the country, im not joking when i say he was minted, he owned property everywhere, was having a house built in venezuala because its the best place for kite surfing, which he was into. he always remained down to earth and was a good pal even after he'd made it. He threw himself off a cliff. How do you explain that ? he left assets of between 8 and 10 million quid. People who havent experienced it, have no idea what depression can do to you. Its not just a case of give yerself a shake. Its a very nasty illness. God keep you safe Mike.

A sensible post mike, I've known lads who have hung, drowned and shot themselves all through depression or home troubles...pretty grim, you never know what goes on in peoples heads... Lab 10,979
Take a long hard look in the mirror and give yourself a bloody good shake, thats what i do if i feel shitty. Usually happens to me in the middle of the rearing season and its pishing down with rain, birds are looking shite and you see your hard work and money going down the drain. Always somebody worse off around the corner.................... That person around the corner is me with my lurcher trying to see how many poults it can fit in its mouth at the same time..... Thats just because your pat-lickers cant catch hares..........leave the poults alone you bloody big bully
shepp 2,285
I have heard that the fear of depression can drive sucessful people, they fill all there time with work to keep negative thoughts out of there heads.
Attack Fell Terrier 864
If someone can look at other people who are worse off than what they are to make themselves feel better, then they have not got depression, but are just feeling a little stressed out. Depression is a different game altogether. It doesn't have to take anything in particular to bring it on, and from time to time sufferers of depression will find themselves in a place so isolated and desperate they usually don't know what to do to feel better, sufferers just become completely consumed. I think sufferers of depression can do things to help themselves to keep the bad feelings at bay, but there will still be those times when they'll feel like they've had enough, and when you're going through a bad patch trying to feel positive about anything can seem near impossible. scent 509
depression is a silent killer ,iv lost mates and family members to it .I personally think like others have said previously that thousand feel they have it but in fact they are just down in the dumps .Iv known people that had it and took their own lives and they never looked for sympathy or openly told anyone they were suffering from this horrid illness Edited October 10, 2010 by scent
