Jacob's on the right track, Beag's. But I'd go the extra mile, mate ~ as I have done before: For under a ton ye can get a Logitech Pro 3000 (or similar) Web Cam, with built in Motion Detector. Obviously, as this moment in time, No One wants to shell out that sort of money! But mull it over. Sniff around Google. Think Motion Detectors and see where that leads ye.

Bog standard Detector itself would probably put ye back some pocket change. Have you any basic 'Electrical' skills? Shouldn't be too hard for ye to rig something that'll alert ye when the b*stards arrive. Then you get to relax and just wait for the buzzer.

Then, of course, is when ye need ye Real plan sorted. No good thinking how ye'll rush out there and fill them in. Fill how many in? Might they be tooled? How about if one pulls a syringe out? Live in the real world and consider such possibilities.

Just opening the door and flashing the lamp on them while bawling ye head off would probably do more good than most things. They'll know ye have their number. Leave ye own light off so they can't tell what they're dealing with.

All's said and done, it's probably just some little scrotes. Modern equivellent of Scrumping. Give 'em a fright, then secure that shed :good:

How I'd approach it anyway.

Ditch a cheapy old security light with a motion detector on it would suffice, about 15 squid from "do it all"

Remove the light, use the motion detector and wire up to some sort of alarm (preferably one that shouts "theiving b*****ds, ALERT")

Jobs a gooden!

Nothing scares people faster than a dog, would you like to get bitten? No, me neither. Ask Conor about the Rottie in the pen where he got his Lurcher :icon_eek::icon_eek::icon_eek::icon_eek::icon_eek:

I'd also go with the motion sensor light idea.

A mate of mine has got a shotgun cartridge/poacher type alarm. It's basically a metal spike that pushes into the ground with a pole on it. A length of fishing line (a trip wire) triggers a 12g cartridge to slide down this pole and hit a point at the bottom and bang.

The thieves sh#t themselves and think they're being shot at :haha: I'm not sure if these are still legal and where you'd get one from if they are, but I'm sure a fella with a welder can soon knock one up.

And one small point if you do use one, take the lead shot out of the cartridge
