setting nets

Recommended Posts

Alright Guys,An old chap has been coming out with me but he sets his nets differently to me,in my books it says to tuck some into the whole so the bunny treads on it while exiting the bury but he tends to just lay them over with a little bit of bag in the net, whats your opinions

Depending on the position of the hole I set mine different. In some holes i will drop the ring in first for a couple of inches and open the net around the hole then, others you have to put the net over the hole as best you can. Some holes on banks in ditches can be a headache to get a net over.

I always give the Purse Nets a little flick so the bottom ring goes inside the mouth of the hole.... Make sure the bag of the net is not to spread out across the turf, the Animal comes out from THE HOLE.... NOT through soil :wallbash::wallbash:.

Once you are happy with the way you have set your Net???? i always place the Peg as far away as possible.... this means that the Net is already Pursing the second the Target Species hits it

Ideally you want the rabbits head to go through the mesh of the net when this occurs there is very little chance of the rabbit throwing the net.A little bit of resistance on the net usually acheives this.Nets that are just laid flat over the hole can sometimes be thrown off by a bolting rabbit.I always make sure the bottom ring is lying inside the hole when possible

AS above depends on the hole .ideally i like to put the bottom of the net on the floor of the burrow them spread the rest out on the outside of the burrow mouth then when the rabbit steps on the net it should be yours .But sometimes its all you can do to spread the net best as you can over a hole .But if the rabbits got a ferret up it's ar*e chasing it to the surface does it matter ?

I like to push the ring in the hole, laying the net on the floor and drape the rest over, pushing the bagging into the hole and set the peg as far as possible, seems to work. Sometimes though all you can do is roughly drape it over. Seems to work either way.
