Beastmaster1980 40
I have a Deben MK3 Ferret Finder (16FT), just wondering if this would be suitable for a terrier if i adapted the collar to fit or would i be better off buying a B&F? Has anybody used the Deben with their terriers & how would you rate them against the specifically made terrier locators like B&F. Thanks, Rich Quote Link to post

FightTheBan 1,147
Depends how much you are going to dig compared to how much you want to spend. If you only use it occasionally (like 90% on here), then i would say the deben should be adequate. If you plan on doing a fair bit, then it will be money well spent. I used my deben last season on a fair few digs whilst my barryvox was a way getting fixed. Wasn't a problem. Know of loads of folk who have a shiny bellman and flint ... sitting gathering dust. Simpson10 50
It depends on how much money youve got mate i have used deben mk1 and mk3 long distance with the pin pointer on, and now i use a bellman flint, i prefer the bellman flint now but still think if the bellman flint had the pin pointer on from the mk3 it would be perfect, deben mk3 terrier second hand about £100+ and a bellman flint you cant get cheaper than about £300 so it just depends on how much digging you are doing and how much u can afford ATB Simpson10 Quote Link to post
gatwick 6
The aftersales service you get from bellman and flint is excellent this is also something you need to consider when parting with your cash. Quote Link to post

fmwtc 12
If your diggin a lot then buy a bellman to be honest I wish the bellman had the pin point of the old deben I use mine every week and have never had any Bother money well spent in my eyes but I wouldn mind trying the barryvox to see how well it pin points Quote Link to post

Dropped right on top of the dog. Never in a million years would that happen with the counterparts I have previously used (mainly bellman and Deben MK1,2+3). Just an opinion and obServation based on experience. Cheers. FTB Quote Link to post
Strong Stuff 2,171
Do some blokes not use 2 locator types? I've supplied in the past collars with a pouch for the Orto Tx and also a pouch for the old Deben type (the one with the alloy cap) When I asked why 2 types I was told they use the Orto to get a general mark then the Deben to pin point. Does that sound right? Quote Link to post
