Bull greyhounds and kids

Recommended Posts

Never needed to own a bull cross but i saw some lovely ones at the edrd show this summer. Now this would have never entered my head until recently, but do you trust yours or your mates bull lurchers with your kids. Now i know anydog can snap and some of the most unusual dogs are at the top of the list for biting, but do you trust yours?

i would trust all my dogs with my kids, because my kids have been taught around dogs, cant always blame the dogs, sorry if this isnt everyone's opinion.

I think they can no longer have the nanny dog tag, that was in days long gone, when culling out bad traits was more prominent, now they are breed and breed for cash, colour and look, so there are some

i trust my partners bull x more then i do my own grey/beddy/whip... its not about the breed more the mentallity of the individual dog,

every bull x i've met has been very calm and content i have found its in their nature to be chilled and much more likely to avoid knocking kids then any other lurcher i think, simply as they wont be bounding around like an idiot,

i understand where your coming from but the question should be aimed a lurchers as a whole,, bull lurchers and bull breeds get such a bad press that is so undeserved, whereas a collie type dog or a terrier is much much much more likely to knock, scratch or nip a child then a bull cross (in my experience) but it really does depend on how the dog is raised regardless of breeding lines or type

very true, i'm very strict about the way my daughter is with our dogs, i insist that she is calm in her movements and kind with her hands, when she was younger if she poked the dog in the eye or something (as all kids will do until they learn different) i'd sharply ask how would you like it if i poked your eye?? you wouldn't like it no, so don't do it to the dog..

it means now she knows how to introduce herself to dogs and how to act around them, she'll always walk a lurcher on the way to school, and she can throw a ball and the dog responds, she can also get the lurcher to sit, or go to bed on command, she's right handy sometimes!!

yesterday we met some rescue greyhounds so i stopped to chat away, the couple were really surprised when their dog classed as not liking kids, went happily up to my girl for some attention, i do think the poor dog probably doesn't like hyper nosey children and neither do i!!!
