deer coursing in Scotland

Hi guys and gals. I have been reading a very interesting book about lurcher work. It was written pre ban so includes all quarry. Just a quick question which i hope someone can answer. How come Scotland banned deercoursing before the rest of the UK. And when was it? Just an interesting thing as I feel Scotland is the home of deer coursing due to the Deerhound.

Any one have any more information on this?

Just weird how it was banned in Scotland 50 years ago and only banned in UK 5 years ago. Done a bit of research, and people are right, it was banned due to low numbers of deer.
