pegstaff 9 Posted October 5, 2010 Report Share Posted October 5, 2010 i was reading the countrymans weekly the other and the writters opion was that, if a dog did not have salukiin it,it would not catch a daytime winter hare often. i know years ago people also used deerhound but has anyone else owned a dog with neither of these two breeds in that often caught daytime hare. what cross was the dog and what hieght. will be interested to read the replys Quote Link to post

border lad 1,047 Posted October 6, 2010 Report Share Posted October 6, 2010 A good collie x greyhound, bred from a working hill collie bitch, mated by a champion coursing greyhound,((( dogs around 26" a bitch around 25" but I had a top bitch was bred collie/whippet x greyhound, she only stood 23" to the shoulder, I WISH I HAD HER TODAY, SALUKI BLOOD ONLY COME HERE IN THE MID 70S and there was some real stumors, amongst them, but as time has gone on there is No doubt saluki blood,in a lurcher is a great asset, the blend for me is collie /grey x Saluki/grey, they make great allround dogs, for edible game, Quote Link to post

dodger 2,765 Posted October 6, 2010 Report Share Posted October 6, 2010 A lad i know had a labxgrey years ago and she was good on them took loads of stuff, maybe a freak maybe not, a young lad at the time round here had a 3/4 grey 1/4 alsation she took plenty for him aswell as all quarry she was a good bitch.
