Born Hunter 17,837
Went out ferreting with a lad that i go beating with yesterday afternoon. We got a lift up to some permission of his after loading up 2 jills he was given and all the other ferreting paraphanalia. First warren we had 2 bolt reluctantly, they just kinda tangled them selves a bit but i was near by to grab em quick . We were using hemp nets which i have never had any experience using before, and to be honest i wasnt too keen on them, but they save sooooooo much time not having to untangle them all the time. Next warren was a smallish one with just a few bolt holes, we mangaed another rabbit which bolted well into the purse net and was goin no where. At this point we were pretty happy with the 3 we had bagged knowing we wouldnt be getting a huge bag on the land we were on, but decided to do just 1 more warren near the grave yard. Looked fairly straight forward, netted up dropped a collard ferret down and waited.....................after half an hour we heard a bit of thumping and the ferret was still moving around so we asumed she was lached onto a rabbit and having a hard time with it. Eventually she stopped in one area having killed the rabbit, we started digging but it was hard going and under a thick bush. She soon shifted and poped her head out of the nearest hole, so i gave up digging and we called it a day with the fog coming in thick again and getting dark, being near a grave yard wasnt the most calming feeling :11: Final bag for the day Quote Link to post
