Thanks for the heads up on the free websites, I'll look into those.

Trappa most of my jobs tend to be small local ones and that is reflected in the price as I could walk or cycle to most of them if I wanted to. Should I have to travel further afield then it's a different matter. I tried higher prices initially but didn't get the work. Folks round here don't seem to be particularly desperate to get rid of moley.

My prices are on my website have a look, click my link to it and tell me what you think i only came into the 21st century a few months ago my wife designed it and did all the work.

almost all my mole work is domestic but there are some very large propertys in oxfordshire and i have been to everything from the smallest council house to huge country houses with dozens of acres, to be honest i`m not to bothered about doing large farm clearance as i would think that at the price farmers want to pay i`m better off doing domestic work anyway.

Good website, well laid out.

I imagine most people prefer domestic mole jobs to farms. Could be wrong tho.

As has been said price on mole jobs depends on area and what people are used to / willing to pay.

Aslong as all costs are covered including fuel / time for returning to check traps and your making a profit and the customers pleased, then happy days.

I charge £30-£45 for domestics, agricultural i do free for hunting permission[only if there is a good head of game]Otherwise i charge £10 an hour, farmers round here wont pay any more.

Agricultural you do for free?? :icon_eek: You want to be knocking that on the head. I earn my living around your area.

The thing is, if your any good, farmers will pay more than £10 ph so long as you dont piss up their backs.

Free molecatching, feck me

They will if no body does it. Farmers are just starting to realise that moleing is going to cost them, strychnine is finished, trapping is the future and it costs.

Get charging!

Hello to the mole catchers. I only recently discovered these forums & Hunting Life. Lots of interesting stuff posted on here.
Part of my duties as a maintenance man on a private estate is pest control and that's how I got into mole catching. I'd done plenty of rats, mice, wasps and ants etc before the mole hills started bubbling up, so I found an old Duffus in a drawer and went from there. I started doing private mole jobs last year - all gardens so far - and have started generating a useful 2nd income out of it. Just beer money at the moment but more than enough for a few pints. I like the work and am fascinated by all the different traps and their suitability to different situations. I use a lot of Traplines and I'd be interested to have other opinions on them - the good, the bad and the ugly if you like. Although I carry Duffus and Talpex, I've gotten into the bad habit of defaulting to tlines which has revealed that certain moles won't have anything to do with them - they seem to just chuck 'em out the way. They also often fire without catching. Not on every job, but often enough to remind me that there is always another tool for the job. I really like the Trapline, and I'm working on refining my setting technique constantly. Just wondered what other mole men's experiences with them were. And to say hello.

      Just out of interest......

Which trap do you reach for first? You can explain why if you choose.

For me, it's the Duffus every time, although I can see the attraction of the Talpex type traps.
