hopefully i should pop a few bunnies tonight

 

last saturday when i was out steve showed me how to snare as i have never dont it before,i love learning new tatics

alot of people may think snaring easy just whack it in the ground,but thee more to it like making sure the snare just the right height,and strong anoth to stay there after a rabbit had ran into it

 

anyways davy if you do change your mind you no where are be well hope you change your mind buddy

Thinking of taking some wires out myself this evening. Don't really like using them though unless desperate as they are a little indescriminate

 

My last catch in a snare was a surprise to me, luckily it hadn't panicked and I was able to set it free without anyserious affects.

I still see here in and out of Mrs G's house and garden. Luckily I now know where she goes and where not to set them.

At 3.00 you was exicited about learning to snare then a hour later your saying the rabbits will die a painful death so what changed your mind then.

Snaring has its place, as does all other methods of control/culling.

I'm not convinced that a rabbit will have a pinful death or indeed a drawn out one. If a snare is done correctly and as you mention is at the correct height etc... The rabbit will pull the snare tight, thus ensuring a reletively quick death because the brain becomes deprived of oxygen. Granted there are occasions when you go out to collect your snares and quarry and you find one still alive, but in my own experiance of snaring, I've not found one alive yet.

It's a bit like the professional multicatch steel mousetraps, rodent goes in, no bones broken; no poisons or gas etc, but within an hour or two the mouse is dead. Nothing to indicate a painful death, but death it is

 

So if you wish to try snaring, give it a go, you know there is more to it than just putting out a snare any old how and having someone to teach you as they have, you'll be better placed to get quick results than the rest of us who learn't the hard way of trial and error (like me)

i said i thought they might have a painfull death i never changed my mind as we snared it anyways i was just un sure as i have never done snareing before,

The rabbits that are found alive in snares are the ones that have just been caught say in the morning just before you check them or ones you have scared in while they have been out feeding.
