thorny 100
All this silliness of people having a pop at people for having a litter for money does make Me smile, If I were to breed dogs for money it would`nt be for £200 (at best) lurchers. It would be for a dog I could earn a few quid at, because it is bloody hard work rearing a litter if done correctly. Is the bitch in whelp now? If so try to keep all new pups suckling from Mum as this stimulates Her uterus and will keep the contraction coming. This will save on a bitch from stressing and help to conserve her energy, for what matters rather than just scratch her bed up and panting. Sometimes with a novice bitch You will have to help with breaking sacs, and cutting cords. Always use sterilized scissors!!!. and tie the cord off with a a short piece of thread. Dont panic to much at pups that arnt moving to start with, but act swiftly by checking they have clean airways, briskly rub the pup with a clean towel, it should then take its first gasp of air. If still no joy, cradle the pup in Your hands making sure its laying on its back. Keep its head well supported. Then lift Your arms outstraight above your head and bring down between Your knees in one quick movement, this should clear any mucus from lungs and kickstart the little fella. Once they are all out and the bitch is settled there isnt alot for you to do. Just keep the bitch well fed and watered and Her bed clean, she will do the rest. Worth doing a daily inspection of the pups to make sure they are clean gaining weight and are hydrated. Hope I have been of some help. I will let You get Your head around the first few days then advise how to keep an eye out at the 10/14 day stage and threw to weaning. Cheers Justin 1 Quote Link to post
thorny 100
I`m no expert, but breed Bullys for many a year and had a few litters, non of them made Me a rich man. To do it right will cost You money. Just remember You have to feed them for 5 weeks at least 5 times a day. Good luck Justin Quote Link to post
