Loomis coyote dog sale 2010

Recommended Posts

went for my first time this year to Loomis Nebraska for a big coyote dog sale. Kye and Ratkilla went with me on a quick overnight trip ... I got stuck driving the whole time but amazingly enough Kye actually stayed awake the whole way there, and about 1/2 of the way back ... first time ever! We took my young staghound bitch Feather and Ratkillas bullX Marley, we were there to spectate and not planning on selling or buying anything.

Feather and Marley were quite excited on the majority of the 8 hour drive there

We left the house at 6:30 am, and this was the odometer when we got there at about 2:00 pm Friday ... the return was about the same, so that was over 1,000 miles in about 40 hours. And we are doing the same thing in 3 weeks ...

"the dog farm" - all different ages, green dogs, started dogs, finished dogs etc all for sale for the right price. Some were $100, some were a lot more. There was not a piece of shit in sight, they were all well fed, watered, and ready to take home and work into anyones pack

On the way home Saturday afternoon Kye was more tired than Marley ... got home about 1am.

We had to repack and shuffle camping equipment and dogs in order to fit in another UK hitchhiker ... Unlacedgecko has a weeks leave so we picked him up at an aiport in Nebraska and have him here till Friday.

Long quick trip, well worth it!

Wow Tiff, now that does look impressive, every thing about it looks 'right', from the dogs themselves (like the look of that deep chested buckskin critter on the chain), to the set-ups (pens, drinkers etc), then theres the rigs :victory:

Just looks so un-pretensious and down to earth....!

I gather those dogs don't need to do much jumping, as those pens are very low?

Thanks for posting

DnN I will tell him and I'm sure he'll be on the computer tonight, he is out with Kye and ratkilla and Ben hopefully digging one of Kyes terriers ... its a bit warm but with the crops being brought in, there are probably coon holed up in brushpiles or barns so they are searching now.

Dan sorry you had to work, would have liked to see you and the kids!

Dotty I don't have any more pictures, I almost always had Feather in hand as we were traveling without crates so taking pics was a bit of a pain. That was a year old wolfhound bitch that hasn't seen anything, but the owners are planning on trying her this winter. She was maybe 30 inches and quite a heavy ploddy looking thing.

Stainlee the sale is always this time of year and yes, same place, and it is a Friday-Saturday thing. Sales are mostly Friday, lure racing for fun and a bit of dosh on Saturday. :toast:

Suffolkpoacher the fawn bitch is 5 now, she met her first coon last week and is looking forward to meeting her first coyote! She is a well rounded bitch, handled the trip over here just fine. And the fact that she hasn't bothered any of my livestock is a big plus in my book

Bosun I said the same thing about the pens, every single one of my dogs from the stags to the salukiX's to the border collie to the terriers would have been up and over those pens either jumping or climbing. There were some that were chained out so I am guessing those were the jumpers?

There was a dog that I saw that I am actually thinking about buying. Big black first X Saluki/hotblood ... there is another sale in Kansas in 3 weeks that is being put on by the owner of the dog ... so I might be coming home with a new dog! I need one like a hole in the head but hell, why not?

Staffs anyone who ISN'T a complete twat is always welcome to come visit ... we do our best to make sure everyone who comes has the time of their lives
