I’d wait until next season prior to any serious work. Most reasonable puppy feeds will give a reasonable result but adding a little variety is not a bad idea. I give table scraps daily as a source of veg and feed meat & bones a couple of times a week in the form of rabbit, waste part of breast of lamb ( free from good butchers) or other butchers waste. There is a risk in feeding bones etc but personally feel the positive aspects outweigh the negative just don’t overdo bones to the point of constipation. The source of protein isn’t that important as long as the majorities from an animal source, the basic amino acids are the building blocks and what count and it doesn’t really matter where they come from as long as they are there in a digestible form and the processing allows that.

I skin, gut and freeze for a couple of weeks before feeding to the dogs so the link is less strong although I'm sure they know what they are. A hard mouth is more to do with entering and breeding than feeding so feeding defrosted rabbit shouldn't make a lot of difference.
