If it was me I would go back and have a polite word with the vet that did the op as he she may be more than happy to help you sort any problems you are having let us know what the out come is mate as it would be interesting to see how this pans out for you

I,m not that optimistic with these vets ,i got a price off them before i had it done last year and then after the op they stuck another 80 quid on it :censored: the worst thing is having the dog laid up again :(

Id go back to the vet who carried out the operation show him/her that the dewclaws have grown back he/she will know that the operation was not done right as the root has been left in the leg im almost certain the vet will put it right free of charge if he/she does not then contact trading standards as you have paid for a service which he/she has failed to carry out correctly.

It depends did the vet just cut the nails right back to the root (under anthesetic) if yes there is always a change the claws will regrow or did the amputate the full dew claw toe. My bitch has just had to have her dew claws removed bones so I opted for the full toe removal as there is no chance of re-groth. I will say this has been a major op and its very difficult to get these wounds to heal as she has 4 inch cuts on both legs and obvioulsy has to use these every day. She is still fully bandaged up after over a week and is at the vets evry 3 days for bandage changes. My advice to any one is get them done as pups saves the hassle when there older and are having hard nights running!!!!

I know what your saying mate its definate agg on an older dog..When they done my dog bearing in mind this was around 15 months ago they said they were going to take them right back, but their right back and mine must be totaly different...They was always a bit lumpy afterwards, i rested him up for a fair while and he seemed to be alright, then come the end of last winter one of them lookedf like it was gracing,so i started wrapping it up when he was going out, anyway this summer been and gone and he hasn,t been pushed that hard so its been alright but now with lamping again worse than it was last year....End result took him up the vets today they are going to operate thursday no talk about money yet,....see how it goes.......
