lord of the fens 23
The guy was untouchable. Most feared fighter in my life time. I don't think it was rape to be honest but each to there own............ Guys a f****n legend in my eyes........ For a long time Tyson was an animal in thr ring and he often won the fight before slipping through the ropes, he was tough, hard hitting and exciting to watch but there were and have been far far better boxers...... Away from the ring the man was a mess and waste of space...... Legend......erm no He was a legend.... On top of his game, he'd be the champion right now... No one since him would have taken him. I'm not saying he was the best of the best but he was during his spell.... how many boxers were world champion Heavy weights at 18?

Holyfield was far too skilled and not intimidated by Tyson and Tyson couldn't habdle it, Lennox Lewis would have outboxed/outfought and outclassed Tyson 9 times out of 10....... MoChara 1,632
I like Tyson, because he was good at what he done (inside the ring).. was also quite sorry to hear about his daughter Exodus, she was so young.
gnasher16 30,121
He was a very good boxer, being the piece of shit that he is done nothing but create problems for his career. I bet Cus is turning in his grave at how his boy turned out Many would say it was BECAUSE of cus d,amato that he did turn out like he did !.....Taking a kid in and teaching him boxing skills is great, but taking a kid in and allowing him to run riot and do what he wants because you dont want him to leave is another thing.Look what happened when Teddy Atlas put Tyson in line for trying it on with a young girl Cus fired him and allowed Tyson to carry on being an arse to people. As regards Tyson as an athlete and a fighter he simply didnt have what it took, its happened before and will happen again.....part of being a great fighter is mental toughness and gameness.....Tyson had a very low level of both which caught up with him when he stepped up in class. We can all beat up people who are weaker than us in every way,the test comes when you come up against your equal.....and Tyson didnt have it at the highest level, plain and simple. Make all the excuses for him you like he just wasnt a true fighter in his heart.

gnasher16 30,121
Yeah.... the youngest worst heavy weight champion of the world that ever lived... Didn't have it at the highest level??? I didn't think there was a higher level than no1!!! Look at the boxers now a days.... Hay is fighting soon, who cares!!! From a financial point of view Tyson becoming world champion at 20 was great, particularly in regards to the state of the division at the time. From a boxing point of view it was disastrous as he was nowhere near a complete boxer and if not for how weak the division was would have been exposed much sooner.Holyfield was a pumped up light heavyweight but a very good boxer and a true fighter in his heart, that is a far higher level than Tubbs,Thomas,Biggs and the other dead bodies he splashed around the ring. Kevin Rooney often says that had Cus d,amato not been so driven on producing the youngest heavyweight champion in history ( which he had already done once with Floyd Patterson ) then Tyson would have been a much better all round boxer. He was physically ready for a world title fight, but not mentally and nowhere near as developed as a complete boxer as he could have been if left to mature at a sensible pace. Whats David Haye got to do with anything...if you dont like boxing dont watch it !...if you prefer cartoon characters and controversial exciting figures by The Sun or read a superhero comic. If you think a prime Tyson could have beaten a prime Lewis or a prime Holyfield then you are seriously deluded ! Danny Williams yes maybe....Lewis or Holyfield, not in this lifetime or any other ! DOVEY182009 12
Tyson was a pure beast, all in all not at all the better boxer but 1 punch changes everything... And punch tyson cud.
Skylark 3
after his time in prison for rape, he lost what he had. this is repeated like a mantra, but remember the last fight tyson had before he went to jail, a 12 rounder against donovan ruddock, his timing was shot to pieces in that fight, and already looking a fighter well on the slide.
