WEE TRIP OUT THIS MORNIN

Recommended Posts

went up to my permission this morning for a mooch about this mornin. Not many crows about where i could get to them, did manage to get a woody on the way down to fields.Quite a good shot for me as i tracked the bird landing in tree then took quick shot and got it right in the neck.Bird fell from tree and twitched a few times then was stone dead by the time i nearly ripped ma baws (knackers)off by jumping the barbed wire fence.so i was off to a good start for a change.I hung the pigeon on fence for collection on way back to car.Mooched about for some crows in the usual places but none were found ,so decided to have a walk about and explored new bits on my permission.Found a crackin wee glen bit with a stream running through it and trees on all sides.

Was scanning the trees when i spotted a nest ,then i saw movement near to it ,it was a tree rat running round the trunk a good way up the tree.i waited for it to pop its head out ,when it obliged i returned the favour with planting a newly loaded AA field right in to its head.I heard the pellets dull thud as it stuck bone, and i watched the squirrel, lose its grip on tree with its back leg then it fell 20 meters from tree on to ground. It kicked a few times and i was on my way over to add the fateful blow if needed ,cos the squirrelsi've shot before have been quite tough customers. No second shot was needed as it was stone dead by the time i got to it.Well pleased with this shot.post-35314-092302800 1286036964_thumb.jpg

exit wound= one dead squirrel.

just started using these pellets and apart from the soft skirts ,i am lovin the extra accuracy i am getting with them compared to my usual accupels.

Decide to call it a day and head back to car.

Farmer met me and said he was planting corn next week so i could try a new bit of land and shoot the crows that will be on that field. get in there.

Went to retrieve pigeon that i left on fence earlier ,onlt to be confronted with a bunch of feathers and a couple of pigeon legs and tail. Either mr fox had a nice breakfast or they buckin crows :wallbash: are takin the pi ss.

cheers Kot

Very Nice going KOT, :clapper:

I'm still awaiting my 1st tree rat

I'm hoping one will appear on the Oak trees in Bunny land soon :whistling: Then its Cajun Squirrel for me :boogie:

when the farmer plants the corn, get yourself a hide built and get in there early, the pigeons will be down in their flocks :victory:

You make people work for their sp's Stealthty, :big_boss:

I am willing to try it,but this one had a big lump on its,s neck behind its head,(think you can see it in pics)didn't fancy opening it up so just cut the tail off to let my dog play with it and left the rest for the foxes.

cheers bill, i was well chuffed with some of my shots,it makes the misses easier to handle.!! was doubting my marksanship after being out on the moors last week in the howling wind, missed a fair few , just need to learn more about and practice shooting in strongish winds and maybe swap my Bushnell sportsman for a scope with milldots.I am hoping the milldots will make it easier to judge for distance and wind.
