hughesrobert13 0
i spoke to the local butchers today and they sell beef at 1.50 for 1LB he said it would be great meat for the dogs. i was just wondering should i be feeding other types of meat aswell they will be haveing a few rabbits and thier dry food. is there other things i can feed the dog to keep it at its best and keep it fit and healthy. also what shouldnt the dogs eat because i have heared not to feed them potatoes and when i was looking on the net earlier alot of people seem to feed potato with rice. is rice as good as people say

DogMagic 461
Dont give the dog just one thing mate. If you give it beef give it chicken too. Red AND white meat is best. Also a certain amount of fish, offal and tripe. Kibbles ok but personally i only feed it during the summer cos its off season then anyway and kibble dont attract flyes. I like to give mine lamb rather than beef but thats just my own pref. Spuds are ok, same as any other table scrap. DONT give cooked bone AT ALL EVER!!! If i do a roast, the dogs will get the leftovers, all the "jelly" that seeps out of the chicken during cooking along with the odd roast spud, head of brocoli, gravy and so on all mixed up in the bowl of kibble or seperately. Rice is ok, it aint no good tho. It is a bulk food. If the dogs got a dicky belly rice will prob be ok or even cure the dicky belly. Other than that its just summin to make a small dinner into a big dinner!

Fat-Ferret 857
I just give mine all sorts of stuff from the local butcher, chicken carcasses, minced lamb, lamb hearts & lamb ribs, venison, cows liver, rabbit, mackerel in the summer and frozen stuff in winter along with phesants etc. They appear to do well on it. lurcher lass 9
i feed mine raw meat ordered from landywoods, very cheap we either get minced lamb or chicken, then i also go butchers twice/three times a week and i collect meat bones and meaty scraps for 50p a bag, the last bag had raw gammon, pork, chicken, beef, and cooked hams, liver pate' and little bits of bacon -bloody dogs get fed better then me!!! i top their meal up with a good quality dry food, to give the extra vitimins that the dog would normally get from eating the stomach lining of its prey... but personally i feed mine orijen as i haven't found anything better 70%meat 30%fruit and veg what not to feed, onions, chocolate, beef, pork, egg whites, tomatoes - these are advised not to be fed to dogs but some can tolerate small levels of these, i give my lurchers all but the chocolate and they thrive but i wouldn't give the shepherd any of them! you can also top up with supplements if your dry hasn't got them i.e garlic granuals, spinich, seaweed, cod liver oil, tinned fish once a week, and once a week a teaspoon of marmite in water poured over kibble hope this helps all the best lurcher lass
