longdogbow 12
good balanced diet.as long as the dogs getting all it needs let it eat its fill. minced beef, veg, pasta and a couple of table spoons of olive oil wont go a miss. a lad i know has a colliexgreyhound bitch. 26.ths.she must be about four now.she got a big square collie head but you can see all her ribs and back bone from her neck down the base of her tail.very picky eater only eats when she wants and as much as she wants.nothing more.had her to the vets but they give her a full bill of health and says its just how she is.she have a run down the fields with my dog not quite as fast but a faster recovery rate than mine.if your dogs fit and healthy and dont have the runs all the time i wouldnt worry to much.just sort out what food suits it best. Guest crobinc840
If your dog is running around and energetic it doesn't sound like it has any problems. Some dogs are just gangly when they are younger. The fat added to the diet mentioned earlier is a very good idea. If you do feed the pup table scraps be careful not to give it anything that could be harmful to it like onions. I fed my bitch loads when she was nursing to keep her and the pups in good condition. It does get a bit pricy but you can't really put a price on a good dog. Here's a link to dangerous foods http://www.lowchensaustralia.com/health/dietno.htm Good luck with your pup, it's obvious you care about it.

heart of wales 19
Interesting read I have a big bomb mincer all my food goes through it including scraps from the pub,now its gone cold put some gravy over it,The dogs never leave a scrap. I also put garlic in once a week not a great deal though,I also feed sardines in oil cheap enough from aldi.Main food is fresh meat and bone from the butchers probably makes up 60percent of their diet. The dog in question has it got Saluki in it I had a Saluki cross bitch once nightmare to keep weight on her, but absolute dynamite in the field.
