Raymond 618
I was out with the beagle and terrier today. I had a great bit of crack with them. The beagle and terrier switched of rabbits and switched back on a few days ago. I was a little dissapointed but, where I go there are rabbits and some fox aswell. So with the other day in mind I just rambled around the fields to see what was in store. The beagle is bursting through the tightest of cover on her belly. The 2 pups put up 3 nice runs on rabbits for a lurcher. Yes the beagle was opening up on the rabbits. I have to accept where I go there are some rabbits. The 2 worked the cover very well. Then I came to a little hill. I was standing on top of it watching the pups bushing. The beagle opened up and stoppped and repeated this a couple of times.. Then mister fox popped out and accross the field. The fox got to the middle of the field to some small cover and done a few zig zags in it and then accross the rest of the field. The terrier and beagle where shortly out of the cover and I was curious to see what the beagle would do. She opened up all accross the field and fallowed the foxes every step. I was delighted. The dogs dissapeared for a while. The beagle sounded alot different opening up on the fox compared to the rabbit. If I had a lurcher it would have got a couple of good runs. It would have been a good course on the fox. The field was fairly big.http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/public/style_extra/post_icons/icon1.gif Quote Link to post

Raymond 618
great stuff ray heard you are having some crack with the dogs lately a decent lurcher wil top the pack off mack Thanks Macker, yeah Im lucky enough to have the pups I have. That one off Philip is a grand little fella. If Philip has his way I will probably have a couple of lurchers. The fields I go it seems to be the way,Beagles and lurchers. Its great when you see a pup grow up a little and you see the little improvements in them. The pups still have some way to go, but there doing well. Quote Link to post

Raymond 618
lovely stuff ray. beagles and all hounds will have a much angier or more ferocious sound when sounding a fox compared to hare or rabbit. by the end of the season you'll know by the sound she makes what she's hunting. Thanks, hopefully in a few months before the end of the season I will have the other beagle out helping a bit. Quote Link to post
