Hob likes to bite and grab hold of wrists!

Recommended Posts

I have a 15 week old pole cat hob

he's being a little bugger at the moment

, whenever you pick him up he doesn't bite you straight away but he just turns his head and try s to grab hold of my wrist( i mean like properly grabs hold not letting go type of bite, not nipping only my jills do that) , he doesn't bite fingers or anything just has a paticalar liking to wrists especially if he can see them as in wearing a t-shirt., which is bad seeing as quite a few veins n that are in the wrist. he's oly 15 wks and hes only gonna get stronger and get bigger teeth so i need to sort it out now.

any tips to stop him other than shout NO at him and hit him on the nose? :hmm:

I attached a picture of the culprit 'Badger'

yah looks like you holding him a bit tight there. try lemon juice they dont like the teast. be gentl when holding him and if he turns to bite scruff him before he dose it. then let go and do the same thing everytime he turns to bite saying NO. Dont hold him for to long. start out by just picking him up and putting him down then hold him a bit longer each time. if hes good give him a bit of chiken

put some spray deodorant on your wrists just before you go to pick him up, its bitter to taste so he'll find it unpleasant and unrewarding biting them.

thats ok but me i would prefer a nip or to as its a kit just to let it get use to me without shite on my hands its only young if it nips so be it, it will start to trust you mate just spend a bit ov time with it,it will come good

Its a kit and has to associate hands mean good things, give it a good run and feed before handling.

also give it a lick of olive oil or similar ( ferret crack ) when holding and stroking him..

Dont ever hit him on the nose or anywhere else, you want to win his trust not have him fearing you..

by the look on your picture mate your giving him too much room to turn on you

hold him round the neck with your thumb and forefinger

with the other 3 fingers hold his front legs against his body

he wont be able to bite you then

do this as many times a day as you can he'll soon get used to it

dont hit it on the nose mate it'll only make it worse

or skulk away from you when you start working him
