Great days stalking

I had an invite off Wayne a lad off another site to stalk some fallow on saturday,so I arrived at his house at 05.00 we sorted the kit out put Max in & set off.When we got there we met Andy & Dave said our hellos & split up,Andy & Dave to stalk one side & Wayne & myself the other.We parked up sorted our kit & set off up a track,we stalked around the edge of a wood until we had to cut through,it was quite thick with cover but with Max with us we had a bit of an advantage he winded a few deer & Wayne saw where they were through the binos he told me were abouts to look but I could'nt see them & they moved on.We came out of the wood to stalk around another to a big hollow near by,we crept to the browe where it dropped away to see 3 nice mature bucks,doe,fawn & a pricket,I got the bi-pod set up & moved further forward,but they just walked into the cover,all apart from 2 of the bucks they had there antlers locked together for a few moments play fighting then they just walked into the cover,what a great sight to see ,we left there & went through one more wood Max again was windind deer but the wood was quite thick with cover,we came out the wood & met up with Andy & Dave.Great mornings stalking .

After some lunch later in the afternoon we were going to have a stalk & sit up in a high seat for the last hour,so Wayne & myself got kitted up & set off for the hollow,going a different way we stalked the edge of a wood & through another until we got to near the hollow,we got to the edge & Wayne glassed a doe,fawn & pricket going into the cover so I set the rifle up on bi-pod & watched for a bit,in the gaps of the cover I saw a big buck chasing a pricket off to the corner of the cover then a few minutes later the pricket appeared the other side of a bramble bush broadside,I picked him up in my scope he stood still I took the safety off & took the shot,he fell to the floor I reloaded & we waited for a bit then went down to him,I was over the moon & he was a fair size .We got the quad & moved him out to gralloch,& set off for the high seat for the last hour,we got into the seat & after a bit we heard a crack it sounded like Dave had shot one & after a few seconds 4 fallow came over the skyline we looked through the binos but they were all does we waited for another 20 mins & heard another crack,Dave had another,we gave it a bit longer but was losing light so we called it a day,we met up with Andy & Dave & picked up the 2 Dave shot.What a great day all round,3 very nice prickets in total & some very enjoyable stalking.
