bertstar 0
Hello, I am new to this forum. I have an approx 13 month old Parson JRT. He is not a working dog, he is a pet but I have joined in the hope that experienced terrier owners can help. He is a fantastic little dog, his obedience is good but I have one issue with him. When he finds a scent he WILL NOT recall. He zones out and does not respond to anything. He his whistle trained and at all other times without this distraction his recall is very good. I was thinking of doing some working dog kind of training with him and to use the scenting thing to my advantage so I can gain control. Can someone please give me some advice on how to tackle this? I have another JRT who is 6 and she is an absolute star, she will recall 100 percent in all situations, she came to me at 3 and although she has not always been this way, she has not been hard to train. The usual things that I used with her, like treats, toys etc to try to distract are not working with Bert.
