matt_hooks 188
Re the trains, in theory you need to contact the train company and get their permission to carry an air rifle on their train. Or you could do what a certain helpful forumite does, and get a big holdall bag so people can't tell what's in it, hey Tony! Quote Link to post

RiffRaff 5
I' agree Bill. The parts are easily obtainable and the Job is reletively straight forward to do Both Dillan and I are close enough to help out and if I needed help, then RiffRaff is only a phone call away I'm also sure that if any parts were "Hard to find" or to be delivered to an RFD only for a Face to Face sale, then both Riff and I have one VERY close at hand especially on a thursday evening Phantom ps you seen my baby with her new curves yet? dont have to be a thursday Tony should have mine thro in a few days now i have jumped thro the hoops an done all the tricks Niel Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
@ Riffraff Thought you'd given up on the idea of getting an RFD ticket? @ Matt I only put the gun in that because it saved me carrying a gunslip as well (and of course the funny looks that BL mentioned lol) I was unaware you had to contact the train company anymore since they privaised it all? I had a few funny looks from some of the passengers on the train when I brought my Rifle back from Leeds a year or two back, no one complained and none of the staff or transport police said anything about it . Trust me when I say on Leeds Station there are plenty of both staff AND Police Same with Busses, bit of a detour here pardon the pun! I once got on a bus at Hull Interchange, carrying a 10 litre bucket of white emulsion paint; The driver insisted that it was illegal for me to carry it onto the bus. Now this particular driver, is known at Elloughton depot (where I used to work) as "Judge Dread" because he is a part time 'Magistrate' , and follows the rules to the letter, as well as a 1st class asshole. I got into a bit of a barny with him about if he wanted me to get off the bus (as I had a return ticket) he should pay for me to get a cab home and I point blank refused to get off the bus. He used the onboard radio for a 'superintendant' to come and force me off the bus. I thought 'this is gonna be fun, I used to work with Mike (the superintendant). As luck would have it, Mike was not on duty this particular day, so this other guy turned up. He asked the Judge what the problem was and he bitched about me refusing to get off the bus with this huge bucket of paint. The Supt' took one look and asked me if it was sealed, to which I replied 'Yes it has a sealed lid on it" He then told me to take a seat on the bus as it was a closed container and told the judge to get out of the station as he was now almost 10 minutes late this was greeted by the entire downstairs saloon full of passangers with clapping and cheering Now your thinking "WTF has this gotta do with transporting a gun on public transport"? Well the following Thursday I was waiting for the bus complete with two rifles and a case load of pistols as well as wearing a "Walther" baseball cap and a Viper Holster, that could be clearly seen and to anyone it was obviouse I was carrying rifles and handguns. As luck would have it the bus pulled up and who was driving The :wankerzo4: Judge :wallbash: Oh damn, he's gonna get all stroppy with me now I got on the bus and asked for a return to Hull. I could see him looking at my slips, my case and his face was a picture when he saw the holster on my belt. He said "£5.10" please and printed the ticket for me. Turns out, a bus and a train are (although private property) places where the public have access and if you have lawful reason for carrying a gun (to or from the gunsmiths, range, permission etc.. is lawful reason) the same rules apply. It must be kept in a slip cover or case and if your under 18 you must be accompanied by someone of 21 years or over Phantom Edited September 30, 2010 by Phantom Quote Link to post
matt_hooks 188
For trains, the relevant document is the "national rail conditions of carriage" It states that unloaded guns can sometimes be carried, at the discretion of the train company. The relevant part is sec1:25, page 27. Quote Link to post
beddylurcher 70
thanks for that lol i dont think they would like it if i took a gun on it because im only 18 . so i will just bring it back in a fishing bag. hope its ready today. the farmer i have got permision with is getting mad i will have to get my brother to go down for me if i wont get it back today.
