Needing some ferret food,

Hey guy's.

 

Took the last frozen bunny out the freezer for the kits last night and realizing it was the last one I need to go get some more

 

So in the wet stuff I made my way to the easy pickings of the Cemetery. First job was to make sure that the gun was zeroed

 

Reason being is I had done some work on her the other day and when fitting the scope, I forgot to finger tighten the mounts and from standing the scope fell off the gun and landed on my bare toes causing me to shriek and lift my foot up thus making the scope airborn once more and landing on the objective lense side. Luckily I have just fitted rubber flip scopecaps phew and this seemed to take a lot of the energy out of the impact with the tiled floor, even then it still hit hard and I was aware that I had in all probability just fecked the optics good and proper

 

So I got myself laid up in the new section of the cemetery and placed my zero card and ballistic putty back stop at 28 yards.

 

Given the accident the scope had suffered I aimed directly between the two bottom targets As you can see the 1st strike was WAY out (1)

 

 

Aiming again Directly between the two bottom targets I let loose another (2) Given that they had landed pretty close at similar hight, I turned the elevation turret by two full turns and pellet (3) hit the dirt below the target another turn of the turret in the opposite direction and aiming directly at the centre between the bottom two targets resulted in number (4) much better, now to start on the targets themselves (idont want to kloose track of where the pellets are landing) Pellet (5) again showed similar hieght my only change was I was aiming at the bottom right bull now. Further djustment of the Elevation Turret brought 6 and 7 much closer to where I wanted them. A cople of clicks on the windage turret produced number (.

Shots (9) (10) (11) and (12 marked 14 ) were pretty much spot on these black centres are 23mm in diameter.

 

13 & 14 (marked 12 & 13) on the middle left target were down to me and a strong gusting wind

 

I waited for a few minutes for the wind to die down again before making my final group of 4 shots (15) (16) (17) (18) all landed well withing a 5p coin sized group (Edge to edge). That will do me I thought

 

I decided to take the 1st pix of my baby after the mods I had made; Here she is anyone notice anything differant about my baby?

 

After this I decided to go check on the small warrens in the adjoining paddock where I am going to train my little monsters on. Feck me the trees and bushes are shedding their cover and fruit but the nettles and grass in the paddock are still up to my knees, so I have to await until that dies down before taking them out.

 

Anyway's on my way back to the cemetery I saw Bessy and Bubba at about 60 yards away. Both have grown tremedously since I had seen them last in the spring. It had become too windy for me to risk a shot on either of them and the rain was once again comming down and the light was fading fast. But I still plan on having their thick black winter furs soon

 

I spent a further 4 hours in the cemetery while the weather turned from humid to wet to wind and wet again only seeing fleeting glimpses of Orange/yellow eyes as the orange filter worked on my lamp, I must admit I had put it on as an experiament to see if it would imitate the surrounding street lights in its colour, unfortunately thw white light is so strong that it only turned the light on the ground a yellowish colour and the throw was not much different to without the filter. Hence bunnies at range were spooked by the super strong light and legged it before I got a shot off

 

I came home with a feeling of achievement even though I had blanked quarry wise.

I gave the ferrets the last full frozen bunny today having let it defrost in the fridge.

Decided to put it on a try in the outhouse so I could film em tucking in

What did the little monsters do?

Had a sniff, turned away and went and sat with the cat ate the cats food

 

Once I had butcherd it into sections, they went mental for it So much so that the little sods climbed up onto the white sofa in there and I now have red ferret foot prints all over it

 

Wife's turn to go mental when she sees the prints :laugh:

Yep, cheers Red,

 

The scope has taken a few knocks of late and I am pleased to say its its stood up to everything with flying colours. Including the drop from over 5feet in the air.

 

I'm off out soon as I've caught up on here as the sun is shining and I'm gonna be looking for ferret food again and hopefully bag Bubba and/or Bessy and get their pelts in the freezer ready to preserve.

Always a worry if you give them a good clout

 

Your Baby looks realy nice in her new furiture mate, did you put the other pad on her.

Hey Bill,

 

I'm going to put the butt on tomorrow just to see if it feels better (assuming its the same shape) I have an adjustable one from RiffRaff but its the wrong shape
