Powell93 5
As a spur of the moment thing i decided to go for a little walk quite early this morning, and about 10 mins in I come across a herd of about 5 roe deer, so decided to stop and just watch them whilst the two stags were chasing each other around and what av you, anywayz, after a while (probs about 20 mins) they stopped and 1 stag trotted off with 3 does whereas the other stag stayed behind with the other doe. Once the first 3 were long gone I decided to see how close I could get and rather stupidly walked straight towards them (at a fairly slow pace though), it really was just a matter of 'when they look up, I freeze', AND IT WORKED!! now im no master at judging distances but if I was in their place I would have bolted long before I got as close as I did, it got to the point where I was slightly crouched in the middle of the field with them. However after a few more minutes they eventually spotted me and ran, and that was that. So I think I might be ready for a bit of stalking all I need now is my FAC, a rifle and a permission Regards Lee Quote Link to post

terrierjohn 49
I had a similar encounter the other night out lamping. There was 2 bucks having a wee tussle while 3 does looked on and though it was with the lamp i still got within 15 20 yards away from them this was all happening while i was calling in a fox Quote Link to post

matt_hooks 188
If it were spring time I'd ask if they were on a rape field, but it does sound like they've only got one thing on their mind at the moment! Quote Link to post
