nessie122 0
Hi, I have seen a few post lately about people experiencing problems with maintaining various types of C/F moderators. I want to find out what maintenance/cleaning procedure I should be using to ensure that my PES moderator on my Blaser .22/250 doesnt start giving problems. I have heard of people spraying WD40 inside moderators but have been a little reluctant to do this. Currently I just leave my mod in a vertical position on the table overnight after using it to let it dry and then wipe the outside with an oily rag. I also give the barrel thread a light coat of gun oil. What routine do the rest of the guys on this forum use to maintain their sound moderators? Cheers Nessie Quote Link to post
bewsher500 3
The PES I have is not really "strippable" but you can unscrew the centre section from the tube with the baffles. I can get quite dirty inside which gums up the threads and makes the already quite tight fit even tighter. I just unscrew it and wipe it out with tissue paper, light coating of WD or similar, spot on the muzzle threads (male and female) and you are fine. They are also stainless steel IIRC so whilst having it sit in the cupboard damp is not ideal it is not a major issue, more likely to transfer moisture to the rifle if still fitted. Quote Link to post
martin 332
I have a t8 and when I get back from shooting I always take it off and leave it on top of the boiler, this gets rid of any moisture that has built up inside when being shot, but,I never use WD on it.............Martin Quote Link to post
dc5 0
I have a T8 for my 22-250 and I give that a spray with legia spray. Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
Clean the threads/outside with an appropriate cleaner/oil. As for the internals of a PES, then probably a word with the manufacturer or importer for any tips! Quote Link to post
