salclalin 240
Myself and Red Dog reared a 3 day old cub on a Russell bitch who had pups the same age.He would come to me and Red Dog but if any stranger came into the yard he would hide under the kennel. He was about 6 months old when someone tried to nick him He got out and was never seen again. Guest baldie
I saw a picture once, of a fox coupled to a terrier, and they both lived at one of the cumbrian packs kennels. The hounds and the terriers all knew the particular fox, as he had been raised there, and they never bothered it.I had to look twice at the pic, i couldnt believe it. Guest JDF
i saw an old pic once of the rat catcher for the crown or something,he had terriers round him and a couple of foxes peeking out of his pockets apparently used them for catching in cellars. Quote Link to post

THE STIFFMEISTER 16,204
Ive been reliably informed that this lurcher could easily destroy charlies on the beam.....And that the pic is off a suckled cub, it raised as its own....Fair play to the owner, Obviously a true naturalist Quote Link to post
skycat 6,174
A friend of mine once reared 2 cubs with a litter of kittens. Even from an early age one was much wilder than the other, and by the time it was a few months old it would come near no one but him. The other one was much tamer and he kept it for many years in a big pen on his small holding along with a lame fox that had been hit by a car. The wild one was eventually released by a vet nurse who fed it for nearly a year: she lived in the middle of nowhere and the fox would come to her window at dusk and scratch on the glass to be fed: and it even brought its cubs the following Spring, in true Born Free fashion, though of course the cubs wouldn't come near the house, just sat under a tree at the edge of the field and watched their mother go ofr food to the window.
