hi, im new to all this iv always wanted a dog i could work and finally think iv got one, hes a mix of jack russel and whippet hes extreamly quick for his size. Recently hes been chasing everything he can squirels are his favourite at the moment. when chasing them he gains on them all the time its just they can climb trees and get away. i would love him to be able to have a go at rabbits as i feel he is quick enough and i love watching him work, i just need some advice or any ideas thanks hope i hear from someone soon. il try and add some photos of him soon.

Get yourself a lamp pal and introduce him to rabbits in the easiest way make sure his recall etc is good and dont expect miricles straight away as they say practice makes perfect

please make sure he is stock savvy first ,ie show him sheep when on the lead see what he does otherwise you could be in trouble !!!!hope all goes well oggy

many people will work a jrt x whippet although it is not my subject i can tell you that it is more than possible. get yourself a ferret and do a little bit with him ( so he can hold them in the nets) this lets him know what they are and will help that he knows the rabbit isnt his. ( many peoples dogs will bugger off with a rabbit if not taught this. and then as they said earlier get the lamp and go do some real work. and let us lads know how it has gone all the best

Thanks for the advice any help is great, his recall is great he never fails to come back. i no its a good time of year now for lamping just wonderd what time at night you think is best, and any tips would be great thanks

pm me as i have a bitch working that is not quite the same breeding but prob about the same size. there is a lot to do with the dog if your going to be responsible cant see where you come from by your profile but if your my way i will show you first hand
