3 More Foxes - A Quick Night !

Recommended Posts

Headed out with my mate Jamie tonight to get him a few bunnies for his ferrets and to see what foxes were milling around.

First of all in keeping with danebrewer10's :db: hunters etiquette we blessed the ammunition we were going to use, some 55gr Holy-Max which arrived in the post from the Vatican yesterday blessed by the pope himself (so I was told), so we knew we could rest easy knowing we were being respectful to our quarry.

We headed out just after 9pm to the first farm and bagged a few bunnies but saw no sign of Charlie despite there being a ewe carcass left on the hill. After half an hour sitting praying and keeping an eye on the carcass we decided to head off to the the chicken farm where I knew there were a few foxes milling about there last week and we only bagged the one so the others needed to be dealt with as they had been disrespectful to numerous chickens:diablo: .

We drove half way along the track which is between two of the chicken sheds and along the edge of the field, which is where I was expecting to see the foxes. No sooner than I got the rifle out and had a look with the NV than I spotted a fox about a 160 yards away just sitting looking in our direction trying to suss us out. After about a minute it decided to turn side on and this is when I prayed to god for a well placed respectful kill, to which he granted my wish :

I then scanned the field to and immediately spotted another fox about a 130 yards away which was heading away across the field and presenting itself as a nice target in the process and it soon felt the wrath of a 55gr Holy-Max bullet ! At this point we were just about to jump the fence and go and retrieve both foxes when I flicked the lamp round and spotted yet another set of eyes right on the boundary of the field, so we turned off the lamp and put the NV back on and as Jamie called it started to show interest and started coming in at a reasonable pace. It was heading towards where I shot the second fox so I waited until it was virtually upon the second fox and sent the third fox to heaven....or do they go to hell?:diablo:
