taz2010 1,297
well welcome mate and there isnt a better place to learn for m on than here you will find some members a lot more factual than others and it is often a good idea to get a few peoples thoughts (so the bullshitters stand out) before you put anything to practice. right where to begin.... you basicaly feed them what you prefer often from pups i use redmills racer as it has a good proteen percentage for a growing pup i also feed raw meat porrige and often a bit of milk but everyone varies in this department the point i realy would like to stress to you is there is many a top working dog out there what has never seen a bag of dogfood what cost more than a tenner..... the first year of your pups life should go realy on obedience and stock breaking the things your dog needs to know are sit, stay, fetch, jump, and it needs to be good with all other animals such as sheep catle horses and more importantly if your going out with your mates it has to be good with other dogs. then the real work will begin.... fitness is essential i often would say around 4 mile a day road walking , a further 4 beside the bike and as much free running as he can handle. if the dog is a pup you best go buy a ferret now and during the first year of obedience training (while your gaining ferreting permission and the farmers trust) the dog can pop along for a little bit of marking and the odd run hope this has helped mate anytjing else you wish to know pm me atb ( all the best ) good advise given mate listen to what he says lot of bullshitters on here as you will see Quote Link to post
