mole trapping runs just under the surface

ive got some moles that are making runs just under the surface of the grass there not making mole hills, they are hard to catch because the runs are really shallow is there any tips you can gice me to help catch them im using duffus style traps.

some people call them spooks, tread all the run down then go get a cuppa come back out in 10 mins or so you should see him moving, get a spade put it behind him and flick him up, try it around mid morning.

Ive caught moles on those shallow runs, using a talpex trap, laid almost on its side then piled over with soil, dosent look nice in the garden,and the area I was doing, I knew wouldent get outside interest on

i don,t get many resuls in the shallow runs either, tried a few different traps ,catch a few..........what was the tip

They are a nightmare...I gently tease out the turf and scrap the run a bit deeper and push the half barrel into that, then (watching fingers) firm the soil back in the run under the trap...Hope that makes sense. Doesnt always work can end up just chasing them round the garden.
