Guest CharlieC
fly papers might work on the indoor part if they can be suspended out of the dogs reach? I would give horse spray a try, its cheap, readily available from saddlers/tack stores etc and seems to help keep flies at bay. The natural one has various things in it including citronella and you could try spraying that around your kennels maybe? taking care to avoid any bits where the dogs might chew or lick it off? I think flies are just one of those things you have to put up with, we have hundreds of midges in the summer evenings cos the kennels are near the trees and there are usually a few flies and wasps buzzing about during the day. It sounds like your doing all you can allready, keeping the kennels nice and clean and hosed down will stop them being attracted as much. When I was wee we used to make fly/wasp traps out of jam jars with a bit of jam left in the bottom and water, they worked quite well, the flies went in and either got stuck in the jam or drowned in the water. Im sure theres probably something you can buy that really does the job, but those are the only things I can think of right now hows the pups, did you get them all away? . Quote Link to post

Bullcat 12
We`ve got fly traps out here in Oz, not to sure if you have them where you are. Basically they are a plastic jar filled with a foul smelling substance. You empty it out every three weeks or so, and refill it with the substance. They seem to work well, but geeze do they stink!!!! Guest pan.handle
snatch, here's a link to the ones I use. they smell quite badly at first when you activate them by adding water, but by god they can catch some fly's. You can buy them individually as well. http://www.killgerm.com/product-group.php?group=390 all the best Pan Quote Link to post

DiStuRBeD 0
the traps i use in western australia http://www.premaorganics.com/fly.htm they are bloody good, not so good if u live in a small area, they stink, but can get 6 inches of flys in them in a few weeks i use this purple spray called centrigen as well, its for horses but keeps flys away, spray it on the roo dogs ears, keeps the flys off her, makes her brindle colours turn red/purple like charlies av lol(not quite that bright tho) also sticky strips are good, hang them up, catch heaps of flies citronella is good, i found planting a citronella plant was good, rub the leaves on teh dog, or let the dog lay near them(she did this naturally till the missus pulled the plant up and threw it out :realmad: ) Quote Link to post
