Shotgun application

Just a quick question lads, i just handed my shotgun application form in this morning and was wodering how long it would probably take,i know most parts of the country are different iam in East lothian thanks

Deek; Back in the day, Three Weeks was the given. Don't see much reason for it to have changed much now? I expect ye'll get some shooting in before the season's out anyway

tell your licencing officer when he comes out you have been invited on a days shooting and would be very greatfullif you could have your licence by then.. worked for me when i got mine

Hi,

Lothian and Borders police are pretty reasonable. It took me about 4 weeks to get both FAC and shotgun certificates.

Don't know about the app cos i did it so long ago... my FAC variation took 3 days from the day i sent it and the guys were really helpful.

I think the standard response when asking them an approximate turnaround time is 'ohh... we've got a bit of a backlog at the moment as we're implementing a new system... around a month." :whistle:

 

I went down the route of flattery on the phone (with a woman i hasten to add :kiss: ) and sang their praises in a covering letter along with my variation app. I also said it was very important and gave some bullshit reason that i can't quite remember.

Just another question lads, sorry to be a pain, when the guy from the firearms dep comes what questions will he be asking, dont want to f..ck it up. thanks

After the cavity search (no lube... or latex gloves) he'll probably just ask some basic safety questions... this pillow talk (soft candles and Barry White optional) will probably be quite relaxed... like effective shooting distances for your firearm / quarry, not shooting where you can't see and awareness of shotgun fallout / safe rifle backstop, unloading beofre you jump over a fence ect.

 

Just be your sensible, law abiding, god fearing model citizen... Make sure the safe is ALREADY attached to the wall... and have some toilet paper in the fridge.

its usually 2/3 week

unless your in yorkshire at the mo, the new system is taking forever, i have a bud who's been waiting 3 month!!

took me about 4 months and took my mate over 6 months for the shotguns and for the fac just over 7 months from the day i sent it to the day i had it!! hope you have more luck than me!!
