does anyone give there dog something to give them an energy boost when out lamping? like half way through the night? if you do what do you use?

thanks hullhunter

I gave mine electrolyte salts when I ran on the fens ,pre ban, now I take a half pint of water ,mixed with honey for when the night is over, maybe give them a swig if they have fur in their throat, during the night.

know where ur coming from as u say athetes always drinking isotonic drinks,i keep both lurchers and greyhounds,in my opinion if u feed ur lurcher a balanced diet and always have fresh water that should be enough for rabbiting, when it was legal for coursing hares after a run i would sit for a while til they got breath back, knew guys who were always in a hurry for next run their dogs didnt get as many seasons as ours, electrolite salts are great for dogs prone to cramp sorted a greyhound out for me,i give all my dogs some tea spot of milk and teaspoon of honey[tesco own79p] before running keeps up energy level,u can go on any greyhound site and see dozens off supplements offered very expencive too,the ones the greyhound boys are using just now is recharche rehydrates the dog,me il stick to good food and fresh water for them and tea and honey of course.
