Hello All. Got a year old bitch Patt, had her from 8wk. Shes always been a bit dandruffy since we got her,but nothing too severe. Now as of lately shes got worse, looked like it broke into staph(spotty in her pit`s). Been the vets 3 times now, been tested for all parasites and got the all clear, but the vet is still scratching their head. Next step is allergic reaction tests, but the vet tells me it could be absolutely anything. Shes fed an all raw meat diet in the form of green tripe, minced rabbit and minced turkey with Burns hypo biscuits. Dont know what else to do really and I feel sorry for her as shes almost constantly scratching and licking and losing hair. Read on here about lowering the protein content in her diet-how would I do that? And has anyone else had this same sort of problem? YIS, Bob.

What does she sleep on?

I had a dog similar, I tried changing food and giving tablets from the vets but nothing happened he was still riffing all the time and was coming out in rashes and spots. It turned out to be the washing powder my bird was washing the blankets in that he was sleeping on. Once we stopped using washing powder in the wash for their bedding he was fine.

Not sure whether that's the reason but give it a try.

got a bitch here that goe,s red and stinky and loses a lot of hair just before she come,s into season .she looks like she,s got mange all summer long and then come november she,s all cleared up again .if she is coming in season its proberbly the same thing .had her to vets a number of times and tried everything .but nothing realy works apart from a shampoo for yeast infections ,which is what we think it is .as i only feed her raw chicken now and she seems to be doing alright .but give her anything else and she starts going red all over .chances are she,ll be like that for her life and as she gets older it will get alot worse

cost a few pounds at first with vets but at end of day they couldnt find what it is .if i were you try her on just meat and no biscuits . i come to the conclusion its not just one thing that sets it off but a few diffrent reasons which makes it hard to put your finger on . come winter my bitch will be in tip top condision and your would never have known. she a good dog under ground and has had many years with us, so i dont mind taking care of her through the summer as she looks after me all winter

Yeah, the mrs` mate, who works in said vets has also said try piriton, the 4mg pills or something.. How long should I keep dosing her up? Hey,BigStu, how would I go about lowering her protein? I want to keep her away from wheat at the moment,so I dont want to bulk her food out with too much shite. Thanks for all the imput people. Bob.
