Whippets have become more split and purpose bred to their discipline. What I mean by this is that I suspect a Laguna dog now would struggle to win at both showing / racing / coursing. With such purpose breeding I'd like to think that a coursing bred dog now would be of better calibre than it's ancestors. The problem these days is there are no public coursing events where a prospective owner can observe a particular breedline in action. There is lure coursing but other than that a buyer is reliant on making a judgement based on trust. Buyer beware comes to mind, especially when you must bear in mind that some of these studs haven't been used selectively in linings. Quote Link to post
