KenKeeping 13
Aladdin twisted awkwardly on his foot yesterday, (Mon) He cried to such a level that I thought he had broken it! He was in his basket crying with all his might! I coulnt get him to move it or calm him down so phone to make an appointment with the emergancy vet! By the time my mate called to take us up it was only about 15mins, the bloody dog was standing on his foot with only a slight limp! Phoned vet and we decided it wasn't broken but probably sprained and decided to keep an eye on it! That was about 9.30am. By 12.00noon, he was running around the garden after the bloody Ferret again. God they play on you sometimes these dogs dont they, lol. Must admit that the Dog and Ferret get on like a house on fire! Aladdin whimperes to get the Ferret out to play. And then they hate it when its time to put he ferret back in his cage. I tried to get the garden Ferret proof so I could tutrn my back without loosing him. No bloody way, he nly goes and climbes the fencing dont he? Quote Link to post
Terrie 12
Lovely looking dog you have there! It is great to see someone giving it their all to make sure their dog gets the VERY best in life as not all do. This is a fab thread to watch his development. Quote Link to post

KenKeeping 13
Well, Aladdin has started to get out and about on a lead, and has taken to it great! use the normal lead for street walking, to get him used to traffic and people! Use the 50ft lunge line when he is allowed a good run. Cant let him off it at moment till Im'e shure we got the recall aranged with him, lol. Dont take him long to get to the end of the lead though, lol. Wont do his biz outside the home, he waits till we get back to his own garden where he got his own place, wierd! Taken to the ferret so well, he cant wait for it to be let out for them to play together! Quote Link to post
fishfish 17
i think saluki's are a fine dog,i like to see them run. Quote Link to post
KenKeeping 13
Well! He's been freerunning at last! Bloody great it is to see him running without strings. Should change his name to Pinnochio, lol. Very very unshure of other dogs at moment. So much I call him a whimp. Runs directly in the opposit direction of any dog, whatever size, that apears on the horizon, lol. Apart from his time with the Breeder, he is only now getting to meet another of his own kind! Funny how he has taken so well to the Ferret though! Might be that he is secure in his own back yard. He is off the long lunge now, taking my chances with the free running! Seems to be doing ok at the moment even though we have the odd few misinterpretations of what come back meens mind! lol. He will get there! He has this toileting prob at moment though! Wont go to the toilet anywhere while we are out, waits till we get back to his own back yard! Worries me a bit, as Aladdin and I went for our first super long walk today. Left aout 10am, walked up to Sarn, which is about 4-5 miles from home. Spent some time up there with mates etc, where he wouldn't drink or eat anything. Then walked back home and got in about 2pm. He didnt dirty or wee at all in that time. Thought the walk would have made him want to go while out! NO! As soon as we got into the house, he went straight out the back yard and did his biz, in the same area as always. Talk about being house trained, lol. Called into tow this afternoon, and left him sleeping in his room all the rest of the afternoon, lol. Poor bugga was knackered, lol. So was I, I must admit. Didn't do too bad for a pup on his first week on a lead! What you recon? Bought him a toy rabbit today to give him a change from his Teddy (I know Im'e a softy) lol. All I can say is god help the bunnies when we go for a walk in the feilds, lol. Think he knows exactly what they are for. Set up a two hole tunnel in the garden under some slabs, so the Ferret can get away from Aladdins atentions, he is bigger than the Ferret and dont realise he can hurt him if he stands on him too muany times, lol. Well the Ferret retreats into the hole and the blooming dog wont leave untill he see's the ferret coming back out. They are deffo gonna be a good team I recon. Its goot be seen to be belived! Never thought I would get so attached to a dog again, neverlone a bloody Ferret, lol. We are like the three stooges. Poor missus dont get a look in these days. Quote Link to post
KenKeeping 13
I know its only 11am ish, but Aladdin has decided its a bed day today by the looks of things, lol. Bet I did walk the legs off him yesterday. Never mind, its pissistantly raining down here, and has been all night, so let him off for a few more hours. Whatever the weather is later mind, we are gonna have to go and have a little run up the feild. Lol. Quote Link to post

KenKeeping 13
Well! We got out for a run, after getting him out of bed that is! He couldnt wait, which I was surprised at after yesterday, lol. Got up the feild and there was a couple of dogs with this young guy just getting there before us! They were one side of the wall, we were the other, and Aladdin didn't see them. One of the dogs was a real lovely Lurcher, Deerhound/Greyxwith something I cant remember! Said he was 27"tts! Bout right, towered over Lad! And he had a JR! Well, took Lad through the gate and as soon as he seen them, brakes on and tail as far underneath as he could possibly get it, lol. BLOODY WHIMP!! There again, its like me meeting a six foot six rugby player for the first time on a playing feild, scary! Well, poor lad must have thought this is it, the end! These dogs were real good though, and just wanted to get to know him, thats all. Tell Lad that though! They were on their leads, so I let Lad off his so he didnt feel tied down, and god he can run, lol. In the opposit direction though, lol. Came to a brick wall and tried to clear it, miss judged it a little and ended up on his arse! It was a mixture of laughter and worry, as he picked himself up and carried on running down the feild! Through the gate we just came through, and the bugger was on the road. Lucky enough he saw my mate Keith, who he knows, and went to him. Second go! kept him on lead and they were on theirs. Walked up to the top end of the feild with them all on leads! Started to get closer to each other then. We let the DeerX and Lad off together, still a bit aprehensive and submisive to the other dogs but letting them sniff! The two, lad and X, did a little running around for two mins, mostly Lad doing the running and X doing the chasing, lol. Next time be better praps. Any sugestions on how to get a pups confidence up with other dogs, or is it something that will come gradualy! Once they went, he had the feild to himself, which was good, as he got a good bit of speed on him and dont take prisoners when darting around, lol. Comes running at me like a bullet, and then steers clear. Frightens the life out of me sometimes, thinking, god he'll hurt me if he hits me, lol. Never does though! Love to see him turn sharp after a long straight run. Most of the time he makes it, now and again he slides and then is the time I wish I had a camera Bambie has no look on him in a slide, lol. He is just as funny, and cute! He is trying to get his footing back and run forward, as his arse is sliding backwards, lol. Talk about skid marks! He is great on the lead now so dont use a harness anymore! Used it 3 times only. Me saying I will not use a coller incase he chokes, dont matter, he dont pull on it! Stops dead in his tracks though I must admit. Ending up straddling him a few times, EMBARESSING! Need to plan tomorrows fun and games now, lol. He's probably laying there thinking, Oh shite! What I let myself in for?, lol. Quote Link to post
