KenKeeping 13
Hope these pics get on, if so, this is Aladdin, my 4mnth old pup dog. Pure Saluki, I bought him today in Barry! Iv'e been looking for the right pup for ages, and this is what I ended up with! Sorry about the pics, they are with my phone, its late, and we are both tyred fronm a long evening getting aquainted! He is now fast asleep on the kitchen floor! Will get a load more pics of him tomorrow for you to cast your critical eyes over! lol. Im'e happy, and we bonded straight away, which was a great fealing! I know its a purebred, but Im'e hoping he is going to turn out a good rabbit dog, as his Dad is a runner! Quote Link to post
Cold Ethyl 63
He looks like a fantastic dog mate all the best with him. Quote Link to post
KenKeeping 13
Thanks, he is! I think the pics are to big for the forum, am I right? Will have to try and resize the next lot better! Well I never thought Id'e be sitting up with a blooming dog all night to settle him in at my age! Thought my children days were gone. Not minding it though! He is doing ok for the first night away from is mum in 4 mths! Will wait a few days and then try him with a soft coller to see if he will get used to it! Cat wait to take him and show him off once his jabs are sorted! Quote Link to post
KenKeeping 13
What would you recomend to use as far as the first collar is concerned on a saluki pup? He ain't had one near him yet so the breeder say's so dont want to upset him too early with something a bit harsh, but I would like him to get used to one as soon as poss. Quote Link to post
Cold Ethyl 63
Id just use a soft collar thats loose in the house but tighten a bit when hes outdoors then progress to a leather one.Hes a cracker [bANNED TEXT] i know what you mean ive done my share of sitting up all night with dogs lol.I aint done yet either Quote Link to post
KenKeeping 13
Ive seen a couple around, so will get one this week, and try it gently on weekend, see how he gets on. For a Saluki pup, he seems to be allowing me very close to im and into his personal space quite well! Far from the scared dog I was expecting1 Quote Link to post
lurcher lass 9
nice to hear someone clearly taken by there dog and its not just a "tool" very nice stamp of a pup, keep up the bonding and i would introduce training tomorrow as it shows thats part of the new home before he gets properly settles in, regarding the collor get a nice soft nylon one pop it on all the time from tomorrow, and distract him from it, don't have it on too loose as you don't want a leg to get tangled when he scratches at it and with what you were saying about pure saluki letting you bond, the difficult time is adolesent time but keep the bond and training strong and you should have few problems all the best with your stunning pup, look forward to hearing updates x x x Quote Link to post

stroller 341
Dont worry too much about the collar thing most long dogs take to it easily. he is a lovely pup i hope he does well at the bunnys and even if he doesnt people cant pass a saluki without telling you what a beautiful dogs they are. i dont have a pure bred dog but he is saluki x greyhound back to saluki x greyhound and he looks pure bred to the un initiated and he certainly acts like it. and he can catch the odd rabbit as well Quote Link to post
KenKeeping 13
Thanks for the feedback on the post you lot! Its nice to see that you agree with me that its a nice dog! You know when you were a kid, and daddy brought home your first puppy or kitten, and the warm joy it made you feel. Well, bloody hell, Im'e 50yrs old and I got that feeling yesterday, lol. When I got to the Breeders house, the pup came right over to me away from his mum and brother and was going in and out my legs and sitting on my foot pushing back on to me. I knew then he was coming home with me. Daft I know but if I can keep a togtherness with the pup that will go on for a long time, I recon we will stroll along that learning curve together helping each other out! Its a new venture to both of us, so should be fun. Dont go to far gang, will probably be shouting out for help real soon, ha ha! Will try and take some better snaps of the pup when my mate calls up, the pup is too quick for pics when awake and allcurled up when asleep. Quote Link to post
