respect for last nights fox

Recommended Posts

Was out last night with Dave, and i shot this Fox at a ranged distance of 160 yards using my Sako 22/250 Schmidt & Bender 6x42 on top, using a 55 grain Nosler ballistic tip Home load with 38gr of H380 powder, this gives the killing power to shoot and kill Foxes instantly, as they deserve the respect of a humane kill

Anyway this was shot as it was running down a field at a good pace, had no intentions of stopping, but i had other ideas knowing that the set up i had in my hands had the stopping power for any fox, aimed 4 feet in front of him and bang he was out cold, seen two more in the field but they made good there escape for now, picture below shows it was shot on the top of the shoulder taking out its spinal column, for a good clean instant death, never knew what hit him....RIP little fox you wont be killing any more chickens, just need to catch up with the other two.

the next picture shows a fox on a private pheasant shoot who has been causing havoc with the birds over the past few days, he was shot the night before using a Tikka T3 light .223 with a Schmidt & Bender 3-12x56 on top using hornaday 55gr V-Max heads home loaded with 25.5 of varget powder, shot and ranged at 220 yards, this load actually took one of the front legs completly off as it made contact killing it instantly again, but as a mark of respct to the fox i have showed the good side

(doesnt he look cute)NOT !!! he has accounted for killing and maming countless pheasants, showing no respect for his quarry killing and maming just for the fun of it, not any more, just a couple i have shot tis week, been busy with other things, at least there will be some dosh in the bank for my efforts, keeps the family fed for the next week,LOL

Jimmy you for got to mention .....the bullets were blessed with holy water and after they were shot we said a prayer.

I can also confirm rather than slinging them into the hedge, both of us holding a cord each slowly and respectfully lowered the deceased foxes into the hedge.

Is this respectful enough for dane?:whistling:

Fair play to the old guy .... it was a cracking shot !:notworthy: :notworthy: and it goes without saying my lamping skills were impressive :D

I am sure the fox would have respected being killed by such a skilled shot:whistling:

I understand from a previous thread Jimmy you have been shooting foxes for over 30 years - the above sentence domonstrates you have not learnt too much about the fox in all that time. Foxes do NOT kill for the FUN of it, they kill as much as they can when confronted with multiple prey because instinct has taught them this is a time of plenty - if left to its own devises, a fox will return again and again to multiple kills and take off eat or bury its victims. Now a mink is an animal that will kill for the sake of killing but not a fox.

I would suggest on a rainy night you stay in and read the book 'Running with the Fox' by David MacDonald it will give you a better understanding of what makes a fox tick.

PS glad to see your photos are now the right side !

Respect and Fun neither word nor concept are understood by fox.

Anthropomorphism

Anthropomorphism is the expression of human feelings and motivations to non-humans, including animals, and inanimate objects. Anthropomorphism in and of itself is neither good nor bad. How it is used by humans to refer to actions or motivations of non-human animals, however ridiculous.

Just love those running shots murphy
