niall_b73 41
Another of my favourite baits for pike is the lamprey. yeah i have herd a lot of great reports about the lamprey lately, i have never used it yet but do plan to give it a shot this winter. supposed to be full of blood and when they thaw in the water the pike apparently goes mad for the scent. niall_b73 Ive tried frozen sections (defrosted) popped up off the bottom,on a moat near me full of jacks and a few biggers females(18lb,known) and had F all. F`in expensive too. well i think i will have to give them a lash anyway if not to satisify my own couriousity niall_b73 Edited September 23, 2010 by niall_b73 Quote Link to post

tomburras 2,730
my favorite dead bait is sardines i hook them in the tail root right on the very edge where the tail starts and never had any problems with them staying on, i get mine from Morrison's fish counter. my favorite lure is a number four mepps comet (red and brass) they seem to be great on the Leeds and Liverpool canal and make a lot of vibration. live bait wise i found gudgeon to be great and keep lively longer than any others, especially when used with the lightest float possible so they search the water more and don't tire out sooner. Sidelock 10
Keeping sprats on the trace is easy,,,, string them up the day before then freeze them, a small box lined with polystyrene tiles keeps them frozen all day Quote Link to post
