it will be the pup trying to take the dominant role in the pack my opinion would be to leave them to sort it out them self just keep an eye on them because if you split them up now they will eventually fight till the pup is top dog or it submits to the other one.

got a similar thing !! my 2year old collie grey is really gentle with my 5 month old deer grey x bull grey but when the pup gets too out of hand he wipes the floor with him no biting just mouthing round throat pinning him to the floor if he gets up he lets him run abit more before he starts his assult all over again lol  !! he seems to be learning to leave the old boy alone but he still has his moments of braveness wich leave him quite quickly  !! as long as it dosent get out of hand i wouldnt worry too much play fighting is a great way for pups to devolop and learn about themselves!!! i'll be monitering them a lot more vigorusly when the pup gets to about a year old but i cant see there bieng too much of a problem im the boss dog at the end of the day if i catch them fighting each other i'll be laying the smack down on both there ass's :toast:

Personally I would never leave them to it, bad advice. Especially if You have some sort of Bull cross, You will end up with a dead dog. I breed Bull Terriers for years and kept seven. 5 bitches I could keep in harmony as we had an alpha female. Our foundation bitch, the rest were all Her prodigy. We also had two dogs that rubbed along together for a while. Our older dog Spike tolerated a pup that we ran on to show for about ten months. Then in the blink of an eye no food or toys or even bitches present. Bang they were at it and it took over ten minutes to get them apart. Both to the vets one with bad cuts, puncture`s and bruise`s. The other with a shattered hock. (Spike the fella in My profile pic.) After that both lads had to leave out in kennels as I just could trust them.

spot on, you have to keep a eye on things. Its ok the older dog putting the pup in its place great. But when they get to 12- 20months , there is strong chance it will try to be top dog, and as above bull breeds can just kick off very quick. :wallbash: I used to keep bullmastiffs years ago, and they could be fine 90% of the time, then in second Bang all hell breaks loose, feck knows why.???? . Any dogs can start, so always let them know you are top dog, more so if you have dogs with bull in them, even though they might not start it, but will try to finish it,

Totally agree with both of the above posts.

It can get out of hand very quickly....

My 2 do it, the whippet pup was a bully, my beddie/whippet would just be pushed around by her, however, on the occassions he did snap back to try and put her in her place she would just see red, not take the hint and get more fired up, it could easily kick off big time, they do need to sort out who is top dog to a certain point but 1 day that could all go very wrong when neither decide it is time to back down!

had this happen my self with 2 terrier bitches jrt and a pat lakey one nearly year and a half the other about 9 months or so pup came home at 8 weeks both got on like house on fire went every where together playeed well then one day a fight broke out of nothing then again month later each time they both know they done wrong and let them know it to . then it got more frequent and no matter what you did 5 mins later at it again yet if you were out they were fine its when they got back it kicked off big time resulted in torn ears and slpit mouths not good when you cant kennel seperatley so pup had to go unfortunantly but gone to a good home of a freind of mine. dont let this happen to you mate near enough broke my heart to do it aswell. my advice nip it in the but mate before this happens to you.

Aye nip it in the bud by seperating them. You can do whatever you want to stop them fighting when your around and they will probably get on ok but your gonna have to go to work/sleep/shops or something at some point and when you get back it could be too late.

Why not just seperate them? If you leave them to it as someones advised are you prepared to come home to a dead dog? My two get on fine when were out but there's no way i'd kennel them together.

My lurcher and terrier are great outside walking and indoors if i am watching them but no way would i leave them together alone. They had a really horrific fight over a bit of bread out the back that someone had thrown out for the birds. My lurcher was throwing the terrier all over the place and the terrier just wouldnt give it up and it was murder getting in to split them up and when i did i had nearly £300 of vets bills to fix the holes in the terrier and my lurchers shoulder wound.Took me ages to get them to be ok again but i would never chance leaving them alone together ones in the crate when im out and the others left free to roam the place.
