mange, rats tail, old sawdust or mites? it does come off if i rub it but have to rub it fairly hard but doesnt distress ferret so wouldnt have thought it was mange scabs? its only on his tail but my BEW has one or two very small patches on his back aswell as tail.

If he is an entire male then he would be secreting a hormone which makes him become more orange in the summer months.

Hair loss on the tail is normal in the summer too. If he is scratching lots, that will indicate fleas.

Its just what happens at this time of year when they moult out the shite under the tail fur is supposed to be oils,wax and dirt ive been told.

the same hapend to a few of my ferrits the strange thing is its only happend to the 1s that have had something done at vets ie vasectimy,castration and my 2 spayed jills all the other 1s are ok been told that it will grow back with ther winter coat
