Dan Edwards 1,134
27 to 28 inches Quote Link to post
Simoman 110
I prefer a dog of 25/26tts BUT height has little to do with the dogs ability to catch all quarry pre-ban. Drive, speed, constitution, strike, heart and various other attributes need to be there to make a good dog. I have seen little 21 inch lurchers taking bigger quarry pre-ban and to look at them you would think a strong breeze would blow them over, I have also seen big 27tts 90lb monsters that weren't worth there chow............. runforyourlife 361
It all depends where you are running them, what terrain, etc.. round here the best height would be 25.. On massive open expanses of land i would guess at around 27 to 28... Simi is right.. Its not about the size, its the heart.. the balls, not one of my dogs is over 23" and both did anything(preban).. Think there is a misconcept on this topic, and the younger generation think that only big bullx will take all game... Quote Link to post

mighty celt 996
24 or 25 allways liked liked a medium sized dog.and its not the size of dog that matters its the size of the heart in the dog that counts. Quote Link to post

adamb20 22
Yeah I realise size isn't the be all and end all but obviously certain sizes must give advantages over others that's what I was implying. Quote Link to post
adamb20 22
What so you just keep buying dogs and passing the old ones on when you ser somthing you think is better, what a tail. Quote Link to post

artic 595
"Bigger the better" people always say, A bigger house, a bigger garden, a bigger vehicle, a bigger bed, a bigger tv screen... and some would of liked a bigger penis. Yes it's true!! It's always bigger. I think its all rubbish, Simomnan is 100% right in what he said. We adapt with what we have got, and so do animals. I do believe a dog is either born with speed or it isn't. They need to get up to it's quarry, but once they are there, do they know what to do with it? That's whats important to me. 1 Quote Link to post
