CarraghsGem 92
. I would suspect that the sightings have declined due to the cats dying out, age and a lack of mates would lead to a natural extinction in the UK. i agree with most that you said, but i believe they are breeding in some areas of the uk and that the reason there are less sightings is because the vast majority of people in the uk are so urbanised, fat, drunken or lazy that they spend less time in the countryside than they would have in the 's, 90's sad thing is its my generation that is this way. these days its a case of why walk when you can drive, why go hunting when you can go drinking, worlds gone to f**k. Tommy Gunn 0
Best dogs to hunt big cats are a pack of good Rhodesian Ridgebacks ask any Southern African. But scientifically if they really want to seriously find out if there is a breed of big cat in an area, why not use a caged female in heat. Any male in the area will soon sniff her out and any female will turn up as she is pissed off with an intruder in her patch! The leopard cat in Lancashire was shot by a farmer after escaping from a collection for 8 months The lynx is east anglia has photos The lynx in London was caught by officials and thought to be escaped pet These are all documented with photographic evidence and NOT hidden from the press, its just they don't grasp the imagination like a huge leopard or jaguar etc. The proof is there its whether you choose to look at it impartially. I worked with animal collections and there HAVE been several cases of escapees, some only for short periods like a leopard at a zoo that was gone for 24 hours, a friend was called out to a ETA involving a car and a big cat, no big deal was made about the story and many local folk know about it, this is only my word BUT the evidence people crave IS there

pongopalmer 19
I believe they are around, its not hard for them to remain un seen for most of their exsistence. Most are believed to be Jaguars which were kept as pets by lots in the UK when Micheal Jackson had his one. When the Dangerous Wild animals Act was brought in 76 i think it was, it's believed most owners were unable to meet with regulations on enclosures and welfare standards needed for the cats, and therefore released them to roam free. A jaguars territory is huge and they are extremely elusive animals, much like the Leopard . . .it is easy to walk straight past one. When i was working in Africa i saw only 2 sightings of wild leopard in 6 months, compared to seeing lion nearly every day. Also the nature of the animal would mean it is long gone or well hidden before any prying eyes can fall upon it, they are not outwardly aggressive and would avoid human contact at all costs. The UK has more than enough prey for them to live happily in the denser areas of forestery and woodland. I would suspect that the sightings have declined due to the cats dying out, age and a lack of mates would lead to a natural extinction in the UK. TOTALY AGREE , ALTHOUGH I LIKE TO THINK THERE ARE SOME BREEDING IN THE WILD SOME WHERE IN THE UK......

I AGREE WITH YOU ABOUT THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE IN THE UK ARE SO URBANISED THAT THEY SPEND LESS TIME IN THE COUNTRYSIDE MORE IN THE 80s AN THE 90s
