Aaron_butcher 17
Firstly, one of my ferrets has patches of orange rusty looking stuff on the skin on his tail, any idea what that might be? And secondly, my pup is fine with the ferrets and plays with them but should i get him to take no notice of the ferret like stock breaking or when he matures will he just leave the ferret alone when working. Thanks alot, Aaron. Quote Link to post
jenksi87 3
sounds like your ferrets got mites pal. has it started losing hair? keep the dog and ferts so they can see each other regularly, get them out to play together and keep the pup in check if it gets too giddy and they will be fine after a while Quote Link to post

diggermad 154
dont know much about mites but im sure they are under the skin i maybe wrong DM Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
The orange rust can be a sign of mange, you will not see the mites as they are under the skin, and even with a skin sample you will not always see them. If they continue to lose hair but more importantly begin to scratch and raise scabs on their body then it's mange. Treated with two drop on doses two weeks apart (product and quantity dependant on weight of ferret) Quote Link to post
stubby 175
take a picture of his tail, but it sounds more like rat tail to me, is he albino by any chance, they tend to get it the most, Quote Link to post

The one 8,463
Spot treat your ferret for fleas etc it will do it no harm , If your pups fine with the ferret just now your half way there when your working him with the ferret .You just got to watch when a rabbit bolts the mist dont desend and he accidently grips the ferret . We start off by saying NO FERRET ,Same with nets, NO NETS and after a few outings you see a big differnce in the pup and you can relax a bit Quote Link to post
