I agree with keeping traditions and all but this one should be stopped in my oppinion, then again, how do we know the journalist didn't over exagerate about what she saw.

It's not the killing that bothers me about this sort of thing, it's the cruel way they do it. No respect for the animal at all. It's very painful and drawn out and not at all my cup of tea.

 

The journalist used very emotive language, to be sure, but if you strip that away it's still obvious how cruel this practice is - it's not a sport at all.

I agree the reporting is emotive and not helpful at all. But the fact of the story can't be changed, can it?

 

I wouldn't chase a deer round in a field (and not just because I couldn't catch it ), hacking at it and stabbing it, digging my knife in and twisting, and cutting bits of it off, till it finally fell over and died. That's NOT sporting, and imo it IS cruel. Supporting something so blatant as that type of "sport" only reinforces what some people think about hunters in this country. I suppose we all draw fine lines about what is an isn't acceptable, and a long, drawn-out, painful death, to my mind, is cruel. I couldn't watch that.
