steezy 1
i'm not takin a stab at anyone but i was just wonderin what sort of settes do folk work to need that sort of range, did somebody say 90meters ?? would it not be better to think more about whether or not a terrier should be entered... the old grey box will serve me for a me while longer i think Yup 90 meters ! Last season we got 3 set´s with that size ...not that deep but huge set´s ! one of the sets we didnt´t found the dog with 4 grey boxes ! But at the end i also think the old one is the best ! matulkoh 66
Bought my Pieps separate from the collars when B&F first started selling them. It works perfect. They've apparently since changed the policy which I can understand from a biz standpoint. I don't know about any software mods to the Pieps and when I e-mailed and asked, I couldn't get a straight answer so I bet the answer is that nothing special was done to their receivers. As far as depth and accuracy, it's always been dead on from 1 foot to the deepest at 7 foot with the collar to date. I'd be interested to know more about the new locator though and whether it operates quietly without all the beeping..... put the conector from phones to jack and there ll be no beeping  wat collar are you supposed to use and wat is the price diferance i use ortovox check today, absolutly outstanding, quick, userfriendly, 100 percent accurate, better than everything else. price with collar 428 eur My mate is interested in having a look at one of these set ups.Do you have a link to were they can be bought from thanks. find the local dealer of mammut and ortovox. All of this obsession with locator collars reminds me of the folks that think the brand of shoes they play in will determine their score in the game. Guess what? It doesn't. The game is not about the shoes. The same can be said for locator collars. With rare exception it hardly matters what kind of locator collar you use. In truth, the old Mark I collar was not that hard to tape up and keep dry, and the new Deben LRT, Bellman and Flint, or any other system being used is far beyond what most folks will ever need to keep their dogs safe. The number of folks digging more than 40 feet deep strikes me as being very low! Whatever locator you chose, for whatever reason, remember the most important thing: "It ain't the shoes." P. patric y wright but why not to have a better equipement? Quote Link to post
jpnixon 7
is the 300 quid for just the box or box and collar either way the b&f is still cheaper and it is designed with working terriers in mind. Quote Link to post

J Darcy 5,871
Well, its each to their own but im not one for penny pinching . In the ast 12 -14 months while mattulkoh has been searching for the cheapest , many other people have been having 100's of digs to their B+_F. If it wasnt for the guy who sourced and marketed the B+F then we would have still had the deben shite that was unreliable and i found broke easily. we have had as many as 3 collars die on us in a day, even when fully taped up. i was spending at least £100 on collars every year as the flimsy collars gave up the ghost. When a dog was in a boig place you were walking around sweeping here and there, searching, but not any more....just switch on and find. I have seen the readings only just picked up with the B+F, so imagine how long it would have taken with the deben?.....you owe it to your tyke to have the best method of location IMHO, and i personally wouldnt be fretting over a few quid and using different this, that and the other..... and as for the flashing light.........erm.....a little ball of bluetack will soon cover the green flashing light up....just dont cover the red one Quote Link to post
spindolero 1,111
haven't heard of anyone on this side of the pond who'd go back to Deben..... Quote Link to post
pockets 0
Feck me if you turned the time it cost you looking at alternatives into cash you would have paid for a B and F by now LOL Quote Link to post
matulkoh 66
i spoke several times with guys from B F i already had mammut box and asked them for collars, no way, than for the full set, i ve to pay extra for shipping + some other fees, so i decided to buy mammut witch was far the best box, now mammut came with revolutionary system, i tried it and decided for it. thats all, for little less money better system and it works also with B F collars. guns 13
ill stick with my bellman and flint seen plenty of use and never let me down. Why do you want to locate the dog faster than you can with the bellman? Quote Link to post
