BIG_SLIM 17
Id climb that. It would be a massive buzz once you've done it. It looks to me like he has a piece of climbing rope with an acender so he can just tighten it up one handed. A bit like a strop. I dont see why they free climb it might take a bit longer but f**k me it would be alot safer. The climbing part looks pretty easy though its just like climbing a massive ladder What do the lads who are climbers on here actualy climb for a living?

tdavepat 8
I do everything from tower crane inspections including the jib to surveying the lifeline anchor points on radio towers. Nothing like that antenna tower though.

Been doing it for 22 years, started out as a Sparky, then got a job with the local Electricity board as a Sparks. Transfered to the Overhead and never looked back. We were with the tree lads on Friday, the guys who do all our HV work want it dead. LV too. You wouldn't believe how many "No,s" i get from Farmers when i ask for permission. tdavepat 8
I work for a well known insurance comapany and part of the insurance premium pays for me to check for wear, cracking, corrosion, correct bolts etc. It's great work, especially when I am sent to work on world service BBC radio stations . I used to ask farmers for permission aswell they always said no. I gave up asking in the end. I once went back to some fields where i was working and got caught by the gamekeeper That was embaressing. We used to have to cut everything live even upto 33. The only time there was a shut down was when there was either no way you could cut it without it falling on the lines or when the linesman were doing a re furb and the trees needed cutting aswell. I once see a new climber try to cut a branch that was going over the lines. He done the cut wrong and it landed straight onto one phase. There was sparks going everywhere. A lad working on the ground grabbed the poles to push the branch back up but just got burnt to f**k by the sparks. He never was a very confident climber after that It was his first tree job and i think he had only been there about 3 days

The basic is about 25K We do standby though, once every 6 days, and we get some overtime aswell. Now, the underground lads,......Well..... and this is not a piss take, the top earners were on 60-70K. But they were at work all the time and doing lots of extra standbys.
